Services Provided This home, launched in 2002, shelters children, aged 18 months to 14years, who are Living with HIV/AIDS and offers them institution based care and support. Most of these children had been neglected, shunned and ostracized by their own families due to the stigma attached to HIV/AIDS. The facilities provided at the home include:
• Medical treatment for opportunistic infections
• Anti Retroviral Therapy
• Counselling
• Education
• Nutrition
• Clothing
• Shelter
• Emotional support
• Palliative care.
The project presently supports 59 children in the home.

Project name Samaadaan
Target Population In 2007, CARDTS initiated SAMADAAN, a home for children affected by HIV, in Kunigal. This home caters to children who are non-positive but are orphaned by HIV. The organization is committed to provide care and support to children and educate these children. It is planned to Provide Care and educational support to atleast 25 boys and 25 girls through this home. Presently, the home houses 60 children 33 boys and 27 girls who are in the age group of 6 to 18 years.

Project name Spandana
Target Population Children Living with HIV/AIDS (CLHIV)
Location 19 districts of Karnataka, India
Funding (Project Status) CHAI (Clinton HIV AIDS Initiatives), Clinton Foundation. (Accomplished project)
Description & Outcome CARDTS is the lead NGO to monitor and provide technical assistance to district level NGOs/CBOs providing care, support and treatment to children living with HIV/AIDS. CARDTS has partnered with many regional NGOs/CBOs in this effort including 4 Positive Peoples’ Networks, 9 Church based organisations and 12 implementing NGOs/CBOs. Services provided through this initiative include:
• Care and support through the local CBOs / NGOs and treatment through NACO (National AIDS Control Organisation) • Psychosocial support to the children keeping in mind their best interests • Nutritional support through low-cost locally available high protein diet supplements to CLHIV, especially those on ART (Anti Retroviral Therapy) • Travel support to children to enable them to access vital treatment and other diagnostic facilities The project presently caters to the needs of around 996 children in 19 districts of the high prevalence state of Karnataka.
